This expertly carved, Waldorf-inspired wooden play iron has a dark walnut wood base and a maple wood handle. This hand-crafted wooden iron is hand rubbed with a beeswax finish to protect the beautiful wood. Periodically rubbing beeswax into the wood will keep it looking beautiful.
In Waldorf preschools and kindergartens, you will often find these wooden irons set up in the pretend play house section on a child-sized ironing board or set up near where the teachers iron and fold such things as table napkins. Children in the preschool and kindergarten years love to pretend and also love to just be near their grown-ups as they play, often mimicking their actions, such as vacuuming, cooking and doing laundry.
This is an easy play area to set up at home too, either in a pretend play house corner or pull it out when you iron and fold clothes too so your adorable little one can follow along. What we see as a house chore, they still see as a fun pretend play game.
