DESCRIPTION

The children's My Little Lyre, model LBP, is a stringed instrument with a wooden open resonating body. This children's lyre allows particularly young children to practice free, basic music which is not bound to a base tone.

This is a basic pentatonic lyre for introduction of music to the child. This particular lyre is recommended for use with very young children at home, in preschool and kindergarten, with musical games, storytelling and much more.

This model is particularly good for unborn and newborn babies to hear as well as it is tuned higher and young babies hear at a higher frequency (which is why humans instinctively raise their voice pitch when speaking to newborns and infants).

HOW MY LITTLE LYRE IS DIFFERENT

The string set for this lyre is made for the smaller fingers of the child to play, as well as the adult. Due to its short string length the LBP model, My Little Lyre, can be tuned extremely high if desired. This lyre can be tuned as high as g’ – a’- c’’ – d’’- e ’’- g‘’-a’’-. This high tuning corresponds better with the hearing frequencies of very little inner ears, for example babies still in their mother’s womb or newborns, and this, plus the smaller, thinner string, is what makes My Little Lyre unique from other pentatonic lyres.

WHY A PENTATONIC SCALE

THE  7-STRINGED LYRE – is tuned to a pentatonic scale which allows the fingers to move freely over the strings and always produce a harmonic tune. With a pentatonic lyre, most playing sounds pleasant regardless of ability; with a diatonic lyre, you need to know how to actually play for your music to sound pleasant.

Because a pentatonic lyre sounds pleasant regardless, it’s a nice lyre to own to introduce children to the lyre and to soft music. They will enjoy the sounds they make with this lyre and be more inspired and interested to play than with a diatonic lyre and they will be exposed to a musical instrument more often.

It’s also great for a homeschool parent or primary teacher to use who hasn’t really had musical training on the lyre because pretty much anything they play sounds nice.

Restring as needed with made for this model, LBP-55210075. We also recommend keeping on hand and using Choroi String Oil and carry tuning forks for square shaped holes and star shaped holes.
