What to do when your package is missing.

šŸ“¦Help! My Package Says "Delivered" — But I Can't Find It

We know how frustrating it is when your tracking number shows a delivery, but the package is nowhere in sight. Here’s what you need to know and what steps to take:

šŸ”What You Can Do Right Now

  1. Call your local Post Office or UPS facility
Ask them to check GPS coordinates to confirm where the package was dropped off. It may have gone to a neighbor’s address.
  2. Ask where it was placed
Sometimes drivers leave packages in unexpected areas—inside garages, behind shrubs, or at a back door.
  3. Check with household members and neighbors
Someone may have picked it up and forgotten to tell you.
  4. Report theft if confirmed
    • File a report with your local police
    • Notify USPS or UPS
    • Contact your homeowner’s or renter’s insurance if applicable (coverage varies)
  5. Prevent future loss
    • Use a secure, lockable delivery box
    • Consider a PO box or alternative delivery address
    • Have items sent to work or a trusted neighbor
    • Request signature delivery if available

Good to Know

USPS or UPS

USPS and UPS both include automatic insurance coverage of up to $100 for loss, theft, or damage during transit with our shipping options. However, once a package is marked ā€œdelivered,ā€ it’s no longer covered by their insurance.

  • Carriers can use GPS data to confirm deliveries.
  • If the carrier shows it reached your address, they consider the delivery complete.
  • USPS and UPS Insurance does not cover loss after delivery (i.e., porch theft).
  • USPS, UPS and Alder and Alouette are not liable for loss or damage incurred after delivery.

Route Package Protection

  • Route Protection is offered at checkout. We recommend it for all orders over $100.
  • If purchased, it covers loss, theft, or damage during transit, even beyond the $100 carrier limit set by UPS and USPS.
  • If Route was not purchased at checkout, and your order is valued over $100, Alder and Alouette, USPS, UPS, and Route are not liable for packages lost, stolen or damaged during transit.
  • Route Package Protection does not cover loss after delivery (i.e., porch theft).
  • Route Package Protection and Alder and Alouette are not liable for loss or damage incurred after delivery.

ā“Can We Replace the Package?

It depends:

  • We’re not liable for packages once they’ve been transferred from us to USPS or UPS.
  • Carriers take full responsibility for packages during transit and up to delivery.
  • If a package goes missing during transit, we can help with a claim for reimbursement or a replacement if certain conditions were met:
    • USPS and UPS will cover the value of packages lost or damaged during transit up to $100 in value. Claims are easy to file.
    • If you purchased additional Route package protection, they can cover packages lost or damaged during transit, even if the value is over $100. Claims are easy to file.
    • If items are covered under UPS, USPS or Route Package Protection, they will either be replaced (if the item(s) are still in stock) or you will be reimbursed/refunded if they are no longer in stock.
