This felting wool is 100% made in the USA. If you love supporting small scale domestic production, you can feel good about this product. 40% of the wool is merino from Texas, and 60% is a mix of medium-grade wool from the Eastern US. It is small batch dyed and carded on a beautiful farm in central Kentucky.
This wool is fairly soft and a fairly short staple with hardly any vegetable matter. It is uniform and really lovely to work with. This wool works best for wool paintings, crown designs, flat designs, skin and clothing layer on top of three-dimensional felted-figure pieces. It also works well as the outer color of plants and flowers and as the felt used in soft sculptures too, such as heart garlands, Easter eggs, standing three-dimensional gnomes, trees and so on.
Please note dye lots can and do vary from batch to batch. We are working to minimize this, but there will always be some differences in color, which is part of small scale production.
Also note that colors may or may not appear the same or different in person than on your screen depending upon your settings.
