Merino wool is one of the most common and popular wools used by crafters and in textiles. It‘s a very soft wool. It has a staple length of about 3-4 inches per fiber and doesn't have much 'crimp.’
WHY WE LOVE FILGES WOOL
Filges felting wool is made of 100% German kbT-Bioland Merino wool. While not as fine as Australian Merino wool, Filges wool is from natural animal husbandry, which also means no cruel mulesing. Filges sheep are raised humanely, respectfully and ethically. This includes respecting the environment Filges sheep are raised in, as well, by keeping it safe from ecological harm.
In this listing, we offer natural wool batting in several colors of long-fibered wool (12 dyed + 1 natural) which Filges dyes with plant-based colorants and food grade mordants of alum or tartar.
