Filges is a family run, German company, founded in 1985 as a small, manual spinning and wool combing plant. Eventually, they added a plant color dyeing mill and expanded their supplies for sale.
They produce sustainable, ecological and emission-free products, and since 1995, have been a Bioland-certified manufacturer of sheep wool. Since 2015, Filges has been a member of the IVN (Internationaler Verband der Naturtextilwirtschaft), which translates to International Association of Natural Textiles Industry.
They are proud that their wool comes exclusively from sheep raised in certified organic animal husbandry in Germany. Their dyes are plant based and they only use alum and tartar for their mordants. Sounds like a great place to get your wool and felting materials from!
